Where is our
final dwelling place? Well, it’s heaven where God intendeds for us to spend
eternity but (there’s always but) we have to choose to go there. God has set
before us life and death. This day I
call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before
you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your
children may live. Deuteronomy 30:19
(NIV) Which will you choose? Keep in mind that if your choice is not
heaven, the only other eternal dwelling place is hell. I mention this so you
will know that both places are very real and we are the ones who choose where
we will go. We are seated in heavenly places with Jesus. Ephesians 2:6 (NIV) He has prepared a place for us in heaven so
that he may return and take us back with him so we can be where he is. John 14:2-4 (NIV)
How does one
choose heaven? You must be born again spiritually. Jesus
replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the
kingdom of God unless they are born again.” “How can someone be born when they are
old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their
mother’s womb to be born!”Jesus answered, “Very truly I
tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and
the Spirit. Flesh gives birth
to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at
my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You
hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.
So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:3-8 (NIV) No person can get to heaven where God dwells
forever any other way but through Jesus. John
14:6 (NIV) There is only one way to heaven, and it’s Jesus!
Heaven is a beautiful place where there is no sorrow, pain, sickness and
disease, loneliness, poverty, or dying. John the Baptist describes heaven in Revelations 21 and 22:1-11 (NIV). Grab
your bible and read about the beauty of heaven. Who wouldn’t want to dwell in
heaven forever? Only a fool!
